IBC Australia, together with the Australia Malaysia Business Council (AMBC) and Australia Philippine Business Council (APBC), was pleased to be invited by the Australian Industry Group to collaborate and participate in the panel discussion at the launch of the ASEAN–Australia Innovation Network (AAIN), supported by the ASEAN–Australia Centre, on 1 October 2026.
-
Representing IBC Australia on the panel was Mr Sutisna Iskandar, Vice President and Head of the Trade and Investment Division.
-
The AAIN aims to connect ASEAN talent, expertise and innovation with Australian businesses seeking growth opportunities across Southeast Asia.
-
The launch brought together business leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators, researchers, policymakers and ASEAN diaspora professionals to exchange insights and explore opportunities for collaboration in innovation, trade and investment.
-
IBC Australia’s participation in the panel highlighted the importance of strengthening Australia–ASEAN connections, encouraging cross-border collaboration, and building stronger business relationships across the region.
-
Indonesia is one of ASEAN’s key markets, offering significant opportunities for Australian businesses seeking to expand into Southeast Asia. The discussion highlighted that building trust and understanding the local business environment and culture are important foundations for businesses entering Indonesia and the wider ASEAN market.
-
It also demonstrated the important role of the ASEAN diaspora and business councils in facilitating connections, building trust and helping businesses navigate different markets and cultures. Organisations such as IBC Australia, AMBC and APBC can play an important role in creating these bridges between Australia and ASEAN.
-
We thank the Australian Industry Group for the invitation and look forward to supporting further initiatives that strengthen business engagement, innovation, trade and investment between Australia and ASEAN.
