Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Assists in the administration of anesthetics, with cardiac arrest respiratory support. Responsible for maintaining medical equipment/supplies. 

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent

Current Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE

Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Coordinates the needs of anesthesia. Assists with technical aspects of getting patients ready for general or regional anesthesia. Assists anesthesia clinicians with intravenous and intra-arterial and other monitoring catheters. Verifies functioning and proper layout of equipment and disposable products.
  2. Orders, stocks and sets up anesthesia equipment in all ORs on a daily basis and between each case. Cleans and sterilizes all anesthesia equipment when necessary.
  3. Coordinates activities for maintaining anesthesia equipment. Assists in maintaining equipment repair logs and develops an equipment database.
  4. Interfaces with other disciplines, such as anesthesia repair contractors, OR and OB staffs, CNA’s and anesthesiologists.
  5. Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job-related hazards.
  6. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
  7. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter-and intradepartmentally to facilitate the department’s unit’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
