Are you a graduate (or an advanced undergraduate) student, with a solid background in fisheries and/or ocean sciences, and interested in academic work? Consider joining the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) as a grader.
CFOS is looking for student graders to assist instructors teaching high-enrollment CFOS courses (FISH, MBI, OCN courses). In this role, you will work directly with faculty to assist with assignment grading and managing discussion boards. To thrive in this role, you will have the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, the ability to grade assignments in a timely manner using rubrics provided by the instructor, and the ability to manage discussion boards promptly, thoughtfully and professionally. Specific training, including FERPA, is required for all graders.
Minimum Qualifications:
a) use online collaboration tools
b) communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
c) complete UA Tier 1 Required Training within 2 weeks of the hiring date and must complete FERPA training before the first day of grading (time spent in training is compensated)
d) log hours during each pay period in UA Online
Position Details:
This position is a part-time (maximum 20 hrs/week), Student Assistant 2 and located on the UAF Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks. We will consider those students located at other UA campuses (i.e., Juneau, Anchorage, Seward, etc), if the applicant has the relevant experience. Pay is depend on academic experience and adhere to the student union contract agreement ($18.50 undergraduates, $24.50 Master students, $29 PhD students).
