This Sterile Processing Technician position requires floating between two acute care hospital locations within a 50-mile radius. The role involves the preparation and sterilization of medical instruments and equipment, ensuring adherence to strict infection control protocols. The successful candidate will work within a team environment and must be capable of handling the demands of a fast-paced hospital setting. On-call responsibilities are included. A minimum of one year of experience is required; however, first-time travelers are considered with a minimum of two years of experience.

Responsibilities:
- Preparing and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
- Maintaining accurate inventory records of sterile supplies.
- Cleaning and disinfecting equipment and work areas.
- Adhering to infection control procedures to prevent contamination.
- Following established safety procedures to prevent injury.
- Collaborating with surgical staff and other healthcare professionals.
- Troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and performing necessary repairs (if applicable).
- Maintaining appropriate documentation and records.
- Floating to a second hospital location as needed.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Current certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CBSPD).
- Current certification in IAHCSMM/HSPA or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year experience (two years preferred for first-time travelers).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- Familiarity with Epic charting system.
Special Considerations:
- On-call requirement: 1 weekend per month.
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend (may exceed due to need).
- Floating between Laguna Beach and Mission Viejo locations.
- Pending licenses not accepted.
- RTO must be included at time of submission.
- Guaranteed hours: facility able to call off once per two-week pay period.
Scheduling:
- Every other weekend required, with potential for additional weekends based on need.
- One weekend on-call per month.
- Shift type not specified. Schedule is per manager discretion.
