The Sterile Processing Coordinator is responsible for overseeing daily sterile processing operations, ensuring instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated, assembled, sterilized, and distributed in accordance with regulatory standards. This role provides leadership support to the sterile processing team and ensures efficient workflow and quality compliance.
Key Responsibilities:Supervise sterile processing technicians and assign daily tasks to maintain workflow efficiency.
Oversee instrument decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution processes.
Ensure adherence to ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer IFUs, regulatory guidelines, and facility SOPs.
Conduct and review quality assurance audits to ensure accuracy, sterility, and documentation compliance.
Train, mentor, and support professional development of SPD team members.
Coordinate maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of sterilization equipment.
Collaborate with leadership on scheduling, staffing, timekeeping, and process improvement.
Work closely with surgical services and other clinical departments to ensure timely instrument availability.
Maintain a safe work environment and reinforce infection control practices.
Monitor supply inventory and assist with ordering and stock management.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and key performance metrics (KPIs).
Provide direct supervision of sterile processing personnel during assigned shift.
Perform additional duties as required by management.
High school diploma or equivalent.
College degree or three or more years of leadership experience.
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS)
Healthcare Leadership Certification (HSPA-CHL)
