Learn About a Day in the Life of a Monitor Technician:

Responsibilities

Provide advanced ECG monitoring with a focus on assessment of ECG strips and arrhythmia interpretation.
May also be responsible for monitoring of alerts from patient wearable devices, to include escalation to a Virtual RN.
Possess troubleshooting skills to recognize and monitor problems, identify probable causes, and seek solutions to correct the problem.
Identify and respond to potentially life-threatening rhythm changes, initiate codes, record rhythms during code, continuous EKG monitoring with accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias, and interval measurements.
Appropriately responding to all monitor alarms.
Must be able to manage multiple technology platforms and develop collaborative relationships with other staff via remote platforms.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED.
Must complete the cardiac monitoring exam.
Ability to demonstrate arrhythmia recognition.
BLS certification.

Preferred Job Requirements:

Associate's degree in a related field
One (1) year in specialty area, rhythm recognition skill set
