Founded by Chef Mark Liberman, Mago is a hospitality first environment, creating a safe and fun work environment for all, while never sacrificing on the quality of the product served. We are a fine dining restaurant offering a contemporary expression of Colombian cuisine, utilizing the delicious ingredients of Northern California through a daily changing tasting menu.
Mägo restaurant is seeking a talented and experienced Chef de Cuisine/Sous Chef to join our culinary management team. The ideal candidate will have at least some management experience as well as experience in a fine dining restaurant. In addition to technical skill, the ideal candidate must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and the desire to learn and contribute.
All candidates must have an interest in Latin American cuisine, knowledgeable in pastry, a passion for excellence, and be excited to work alongside Executive Chef/Owner Mark Liberman in furthering the vision of Mago as well as help us earn our first Michelin star.
The ideal candidates are eager to learn and grow with our team. Our kitchen team is very small and we are looking for someone that can really embrace being a part of our team. The CDC/sous chef has a critical role, overseeing kitchen operations and ensuring that food preparation is up to the highest standards. This position assists the chef in managing the kitchen operations, ensuring that all dishes are prepared according to the restaurant’s quality standards. This role includes overseeing kitchen staff, managing inventory, and ensuring a clean and safe kitchen environment. Must be open to constructive feedback and a willingness to adjust to being better every day.
Ideal Qualifications:
-Minimum 2 years experience in a Michelin rated kitchen
-Commitment to quality, excellence, and genuine hospitality
-Passion for creating unique guest experiences, food, and beverage
-Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under time constraints. Ability to handle high-pressure situations and resolve conflicts effectlively
-Ability to listen, communicate, and make connections
-Commitment to quality technique and continued refinement of skills.

COMPENSATION: Competitive pay and health insurance for full time employees after 60 days. All staff will be receiving tips on top of hourly wages. Four day work week, paid time off and potential bonus.
